The Einstein Postdoctoral Academic Development Plan

Job Title:

Postdoctoral Position in Neurological Disorder Candidate Gene Discovery through Genetic Studies in C. elegans and mouse

Job Description:

A postdoctoral position is available for an individual with excellent records of research who is highly motivated and enthusiastic to carry out translational studies into polygenic neurological diseases through gene discovery in C. elegans and mouse models of pathophysiological mechanisms of serotonergic function.  The projects will use genetic, molecular, genomic, pharmacological and biophysical approaches to gene discovery through mutagenesis and RNAi screens of C. elegans followed by candidate gene association studies in mammalian systems, allowing the fellow growth opportunities across disciplines, to identify and characterize components in the signaling pathway leading from regulated serotonin production in specific serontonergic neurons to development, mitochondria function, oxidative stress responses, and innate immunity and to identify drugs that may modify responses.
