NPR.com's Shots health blog interviews Chandan Guha, M.B.B.S., Ph.D., about the radiation exposure and health risks faced by the workers who remain at the disabled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan. Those still onsite are fighting to prevent a meltdown and large amounts of radiation from leaking out. In light of the spiking levels of radiation detected outside the plant, Dr. Guha noted that the workers “are heroes.” Dr. Guha is professor and vice chair of radiation oncology at Einstein and Montefiore Medical Center.
