Each year, the office of faculty development and the graduate division of biomedical sciences join forces to host an annual New Faculty Welcome and Orientation. The event affords Einstein's newest faculty members the opportunity to meet senior faculty and to learn about the shared resources that are available to them.
This year's event began with a breakfast in the Price Center/Block Pavilion, where Dr. Edward R. Burns, executive dean, and Dr. Allen M. Spiegel, Einstein's Marilyn and Stanley M. Katz Dean, welcomed those in attendance. The faculty members then took part in a variety of activities designed to inform them about resources and programs at Einstein, and to help them make fruitful connections with one another.
The presentation of orientation information was individualized to address faculty in three areas—basic science research, clinical research or medical education. "By targeting the specific areas relevant to our new faculty, we sought to provide them with helpful information and opportunities relevant to their work at Einstein," noted Dr. Victoria Freedman, associate dean for graduate programs in biomedical sciences.
"The specific focus of each set of presentations also permitted new faculty members to begin networking with other individuals within their corresponding fields," added Dr. Christina Coyle, assistant dean for faculty development.
The event concluded with a networking lunch in Lubin Dining Hall.
