On Tuesday, April 30, the New York chapter of Einstein’s National Women’s Division hosted its 59th annual Spirit of Achievement Luncheon at New York’s Plaza Hotel. Nearly 400 of New York’s most prominent women attended the luncheon, which annually honors outstanding individuals in the arts, media, business, philanthropy and government.
This year’s honorees were Liz Lange, the noted designer, businesswoman and author, who launched her iconic maternity line in 1997 to become the go-to brand for expectant mothers; Anne Wojcicki, co-founder of 23andMe, a groundbreaking personal genetics and biotechnology company, and co-founder of the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences, the world’s largest academic prize for medicine and biology; and Dr. Francine Einstein, a member of the College of Medicine’s faculty who is a leading expert in the field of maternal and infant health.
For the fifth consecutive year, the ever-popular Willie Geist, of MSNBC, donated his time and talent to serve as the flagship luncheon’s emcee. In addition, as part of the festivities, guests were treated to an exclusive fashion show, courtesy of 25 PARK, the go-to boutique for discovering amazing new designers alongside well-known favorites that was hosted by Emmy-Award winning television personality, New York Times best-selling author and fashion expert Jill Martin.
All proceeds from the event will help advance cutting-edge research studies in breast, ovarian, uterine, and cervical cancers conducted by leading scientists at Einstein’s Albert Einstein Cancer Center.
