On February 6, Einstein's Office of Scientific Resources held a Meet & Greet in the Forchheimer lobby hallway to promote the College of Medicine's Shared Scientific Facilities and Cores. Supported by millions of dollars in institutional funds and staffed by highly trained experts, the cores provide Einstein investigators with valuable in-house scientific and technical expertise in cutting-edge genetic, molecular, structural, analytical, statistical and imaging techniques.
Cores are generally staffed by a scientific director, operations director, and additional dedicated support staff. At the Meet & Greet, the Einstein research community had the opportunity to meet the core directors and envision how these shared facilities can enhance their research objectives in an era of competitive funding and rapidly evolving science.
Einstein has historically anticipated the needs of its research community, and was one of the first medical research institutes to develop a shared knockout and transgenic mouse facility, which provides valuable tools for molecular and genetic investigations.
Today, the College of Medicine supports approximately 40 cores, offering expertise in the analysis of cells, genetics, molecular structure, and whole tissues; animal research; biohazard research; liver research; data management including biostatistics, epidemiology, and research informatics and clinical and translational research.
