Dr. Freeman is a widely recognized authority on menopause, hormone replacement therapy, osteoporosis, and vitamin D deficiency. She is currently director of the Menopause Research and Treatment Center of the Bone Densitometry Unit at the Institute for Women’s Health at Montefiore Medical Center. She also serves on the editorial board of the journal Menopause.
Dr. Freeman was an investigator in the Women’s Health Initiative study of postmenopausal women (the largest-ever clinical trial funded by the NIH) and is an investigator in the Kronos Early Estrogen Prevention Study, which seeks to determine if hormone therapy prevents or delays the number one killer of women, heart disease.
