Dr. Jacobs is a practicing geriatrician, a physician who specializes in the care of older adults. She is also a nationally recognized educator of medical students, residents and practicing physicians in geriatric medicine, focusing on issues common or unique to the elderly such as falls, medication issues, incontinence, dementia, elder abuse, and end-of-life care. Dr. Jacobs’ research focuses on evaluating risks and benefits of anticoagulants for prevention of stroke and deep venous thrombosis in the elderly.
Dr. Jacobs is the recipient of the John A. Hartford Foundation Geriatric Leadership Award and Senior Leadership Award and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Geriatrics Society. She serves on the board of directors of the American Geriatrics Society and the editorial advisory board for the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society.
