Faculty Development Event

Effective Teaching in the Outpatient Setting

Date: Friday, March 13, 2020

Time: 9:00 AM To 11:00 AM

Location: Price Center, Room 251

Event Description:

Faculty serve as preceptors in a variety of clinical settings and find themselves needing to effectively diagnose the learner and deliver effective clinical coaching, often under tight time constraints. Our workshop may empower faculty to focus and tailor learning that can be transformative and bolster faculty precepting skills and the learner's experience. We will introduce the one minute preceptor and principles of effective questioning, then describe and practice effective precepting methods while applying it to varied precepting scenarios.

By the end of this session, learners will be able to:

- Understand the process and principles of effective precepting via micro skills.

- Identify specific precepting challenges and strategize for solutions.

Target Audience:
All faculty.

Speakers:
Sheira L. Schlair, M.D., M.S.
Lauren I. Shapiro, M.D.
