Setting Goals for Life-long Learning: How Learning Theories Can Inform Goal-setting Conversations with Learners

Date: Wednesday, April 18, 2018

Time: 9:00 AM To 10:30 AM

Location: Price Center, Room 451

Event Description:
During this interactive session Dr. Sandra Oza will review relevant theories on learning that provide educators with insights into how to have effective goal-setting conversations with clinical learners. Setting up goals with the learner at the beginning of a rotation helps set the foundation for the critical feedback that will be given during and at the end of the rotation. The workshop will review important skills that faculty can adopt to help support learners and their self-directed learning towards goal achievement. During this session Dr. Oza will engage participants in group discussion as well as opportunities to practice skills in helping students to set learning goals.

Target Audience:
Due to space constraints, participation in workshops sponsored by the Office of Faculty Development is limited to individuals with faculty appointments at the medical school. Thank you for understanding.

Speaker:
Sandra K. Oza, M.D.
