Dr. Davis began her career as a clinician-educator at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NYC. Dr. Davis’s research and clinical work focuses primarily on addressing obesity among low-income African-American and Latino communities particularly among those with diabetes. Her current research emphasizes understanding the impact of obesity-related national policies on inner-city communities. She firmly believes that helping people to lead healthier lifestyles could substantially improve many of the healthcare problems in her community, and is committed to finding ways to teach about and encourage healthier lifestyles through her work.
The recipient of grants from the American Heart Association and the National Institute of Health, Dr. Davis has received a Congressional Achievement Award and Community Service Award for her work in the Bronx community and was honored with a "Rock Star of Science Award" from the American Heart Association.
