Associate Professor of Clinical Epidemiology & Population Health, Department of Epidemiology & Population Health
My current research focuses on two main areas of interest: molecular epidemiology in cardiovascular disease and the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in health related research. Most currently, I have investigated the role of hormonal and inflammatory influences and cardiovascular disease, maintenance of functioning and longevity among older adults within the setting of two major National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded cohort studies: the Cardiovascular Health Study (CHS) and the Women's Health Initiative (WHI). I am also involved in the study of the relationship between physical activity, the neighborhood environment, and access to physical activity facilities using GIS to objectively measure the environment.
