With a comprehensive “bench to bedside” philosophy, Einstein’s NIH-funded Medical Scientist
Training Program (MSTP) blends MD and PhD curricula at every stage, allowing students to truly
bridge the gap between medicine and science.
- During the first two years of the program, you combine medical school and PhD coursework
with unique, MSTP-specific courses and laboratory rotation.
- The third through fifth years are dedicated to intensive PhD research while seeing patients
weekly at our nearby Jacobi and Weiler hospitals’ continuity clinics.
- Required clinical rotations complete your medical training.
Einstein’s MSTP prepares students for busy, challenging, rewarding careers as physician-
scientists. Graduates of the program often go on to become faculty members at medical schools,
universities and research institutes.
