2014 Incoming PhD Class  

Below is a description of the incoming graduate students for the 2014 PhD class. 


Prior Research Experience

  • 100% have had a sustained research experience in a scientific laboratory
  • 40% have published a scientific paper in a peer reviewed journal
  • 52% have presented their work at a scientific meeting
  • 25% have also spent a summer in a research program


  • 23 different colleges are represented by the incoming PhD Class. Students come from throughout the United States having attended large research universities, and small liberal arts colleges
  • Undergraduate majors: Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Cell Biology, Genetics Cell Biology and Development, Individualized (Aesthetic Theory/Writing), Microbiology & Immunology, Neuroscience, Psychology 
  • 74% have a Bachelor of Science degree; 26% have a Bachelor of Arts degree
  • 26% have a Master’s degree




  • Demographics- 70% Female, 30% Male

  • Underrepresented minorities - 24% of individuals have self-identified as belonging to groups traditionally underrepresented

  • International students - students come to Einstein from countries around the world. This year's class includes students from China, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain and Yemen.
