PhD Program Features

In addition to coursework and laboratory research, Einstein graduate students participate in a variety of activities that broaden the multidisciplinary nature of the program, add depth to their thesis work, provide academic support, and encourage them to begin the lifelong learning that characterizes a scientist. Activities include:

• Lifelong Learning. Each department offers internal faculty research seminars and journal clubs that are open to all students. In addition, a number of special- interest research affinity groups meet on a regular basis.
• Works-in-Progress. Each academic department hosts weekly seminars in which student and post-doctoral researchers present findings and results from ongoing thesis work and engage in discussion with faculty and fellow students.
• Seminar Speakers. Departments frequently host guest speakers from other prominent research centers; attendance is open to all. Go to the calendar of events online for a list of current offerings. This is where you hear about the most exciting research and developments even before they are published
• First-Year Luncheon Series and Pizza Meetings. The Director and Associate Director hold regular informal meetings, giving students a chance to discuss first-year questions and challenges.
