Event Description:
This year, Davidoff Education Day will focus on Competency-Based Medical Education. We are fortunate that Dr. Eric Holmboe will join us as our morning plenary speaker. A board certified internist, Dr. Holmboe is Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the ABIM Foundation. He is also Professor Adjunct of Medicine at Yale University and Adjunct Professor at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Holmboe, whose research interests include interventions to improve quality of care and methods in the evaluation of clinical competence, will share with us his years of experience on this topic. There will be a networking lunch and a faculty poster session. In the afternoon, faculty who are responsible for leading courses or clerkships will attend workshopsto develop strategies that will assist us in linking our recently approved Einstein educational competencies to our courses and clerkships. The remaining faculty will attend a workshop led by Dr. Darlene LeFrancois, “Bedside Rounds: A Learning Toolbox.” Dr. LeFrancois has been teaching at Montefiore and Einstein for nearly 20 years. She is well recognized for her work in medical education and especially for conducting effective and inspiring bedside teaching rounds. Dr. LeFrancois will provide you with both the framework and the practical skills you can use while teaching with the patient present. You will not want to miss this workshop! This day will introduce you to the breadth of possibilities for enhancing medical education at Einstein; you will not want to miss this exciting opportunity!
