Profile of the Class of 2020

  • The Class of 2020 has 183 students. 46% are women; 11% have self-identified as belonging to groups traditionally under-represented in medicine, and 7% are M.D./Ph.D. students. 8,328 applicants applied for entrance.
  • Students range in age from 21 to 34; 31 (17%) are over the age of 25 and 3 are over the age of 30. The average age of the class is 23.2.
  • 3 are international students from Canada and China and 2 are DACA students. 31 (17%) were born outside the U.S. in countries that include Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Canada, China, Egypt, India, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Nepal, New Zealand, the Philippines, the Russian Federation, Senegal, and the United Kingdom.
  • 85 colleges are represented. Most highly represented with 3 or more students are Barnard, Boston College, Carnegie Mellon, the City University of New York, Columbia, Cornell, Duke,Johns Hopkins, New York University, Princeton, the State University of New York, the University of California, the University of Chicago, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Rochester, Vassar, and Yeshiva University.
