Mental health, like physical health, requires care and nurturing in order to maximize our academic, vocational, social and spiritual potential.

The Sound View Throgs Neck Community Mental Health Center (SVTN CMHC) brings comprehensive behavioral health services and integrated substance abuse treatment close to home for emotionally troubled individuals and promotes the mental health of all community residents. The Center is committed to providing treatment with competent, professional staff, and to affording our consumers the opportunity to receive services with dignity and respect.

With two outpatient adult programs and two outpatient children and adolescent programs, SVTN CMHC provides a wide array of services to individuals in the community. Individuals or families with emotional problems may phone or walk in to either of the two outpatient program locations. All Outpatient Programs are open five days a week.

SVTN CMHC also provides 24/7 psychiatric emergency service through the Montefiore Medical Center Psychiatric Emergency Department. After hours and on weekends, patients who contact SVTN CMHC will be transferred to Montefiore Medical Center’s Psychiatric Emergency Room, where crisis intervention is available.

Our physicians are board certified in psychiatry and have faculty appointments at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Additionally, a number of our physicians are on staff at Montefiore Medical Center.

SVTN CMHC was established in 1967 as part of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University.

These Programs provide diagnostic evaluation and individual, group and family therapy, as well as medication intervention on either a long-term or short-term basis.
