Cytryn Honored by Former Students

Dr. Lawrence Cytryn, Assistant Professor of Medicine (Hematology), was selected by former students to speak at the 2011 Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) induction ceremony.

The GHHS is a national organization dedicated to helping physicians-in-training become doctors who combine cutting-edge medicine skills with effective communication, empathy, and compassion. The GHHS honors medical students, residents, role-model physician teachers, and other exemplars recognized for excellence in clinical care, leadership, compassion, and dedication to service.

Dr. Cytryn was nominated by the inductees, all of whom are former students of his, to speak on behalf of his outstanding patient care. "Every inductee recalled the amazing rapport [Dr. Ctryn] had with patients and how respected and admired he was by his patients," said Einstein medical students Jarrett Linder and Sheera Minkowitz, who were chosen for the GHHS through a process of peer nomination, deans' approval, and submission of an essay describing a time their humanism was challenged in their career and how they met that challenge.
