
Michal Melamed, MDEffective April 1st, Dr. Michal Melamed was appointed Director of the Nephrology Fellowship Program.
Dr. Melamed joined the Department of Medicine faculty in July, 2006, having been recruited by Dr. Thomas Hostetter into the Division of Nephrology at Einstein.
Dr. Melamed obtained her M.D. and Masters of Health
Science, as well as her Internal
Medicine and Nephrology clinical training, from Johns Hopkins.
Dr. Melamed holds a joint appointment in Epidemiology &
Population Health. Her research interests include the
epidemiology of, and ethnic and racial disparities in, chronic
kidney disease and its complications, and the epidemiology
and health consequences of vitamin D deficiency and acute
kidney injury. Several NIH grants currently fund her research
in these areas.
Dr. Melamed is active clinically on the renal consult service at
Weiler and teaches in the Einstein medical student Renal
Course.
