Rico to Step Down as Firm Leader
Marta Rico, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor (General Internal Medicine) and the current Firm Leader for Medical Service I, will relinquish that responsibility on June 1st.
Dr. Rico will continue as director of the Montefiore Comprehensive Family Care Center (CFCC) teaching clinic and will devote full time to teaching and management of that clinic, mentoring and precepting Internal Medicine Residency Program Firm I residents during their continuity clinic experience rotations.
Dr. Rico graduated from Mount Sinai School of Medicine where she completed her residency and fellowship in General Internal Medicine. She joined the Department of Medicine faculty in 1998, and served as director of the CFCC clinic at its inception and as Medical Firm Leader since 2002.
"We are delighted that Dr. Rico will continue her active involvement with residents and students and as a major contributor to the teaching program at all levels," said Dr. Victor Schuster, Chairman of the Department of Medicine.
Dr. Sheira Schlair will take on the role of Firm Leader I for the Internal Medicine Residency Program.
