Bettina Fries to Supervise Medical Research Pathway Residency

Effective last week, Bettina Fries, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine (Infectious Diseases) and of Microbiology & Immunology has been chosen to supervise the Medical Scientist Pathway Track in the Internal Medicine Residency Program. This choice of Dr. Fries for this position had the unanimous support of the Program Director Search Committee.
A graduate of Einstein-Montefiore's training programs in Medicine and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Fries has an outstanding record of research and scholarship, as well as a demonstrated ability to mentor trainees. She will not only oversee the recruitment process, but will also mentor those in the track as they advance in their chosen areas of research.
Dr. Philip Lief, Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs and Interim Housestaff Program Director, has invited Dr. Fries to join the housestaff program "Service Head" meetings, and to take an active role in the screening and selection of Medical Scientist Pathway candidates. In this capacity, Dr. Fries will replace Dr. Nir Barzilai, whose is commended for his charismatic service during the past several years' Medical Scientist Pathway recruitment seasons.
