Vaughn Folkert Honored by American Kidney Fund

On March 26th, the American Kidney Fund (AKF) presented its annual award to Dr.
Vaughn Folkert (
Nephrology) for "his selfless dedication to patients with kidney disease and his unwavering commitment to the training and mentoring of renal fellows."
Dr. Folkert is Professor of Clinical Medicine and Director of the Einstein-Montefiore Nephrology Fellowship Program.
The AKF is the nation’s leading source of direct, treatment-related financial assistance to patients with kidney failure. In 2008, the AKF was able to provide direct financial assistance totaling $119.5 million to more than 75,000 dialysis patients in the United States. This represented financial assistance to 1 out of every 5 dialysis patients in the United States.
