Sickle Cell Disorders and the Sickle Cell Program

Montefiore and Albert Einstein College of Medicine have a long history of dedication to the care of our patients with hemoglobin disorders, particularly sickle-cell anemia. Our Sickle-Cell Program consists of a specifically designed ambulatory clinics as well as a personalized arrangement for directed care in the emergency room and consults for inpatient care. Through cutting-edge research and an understanding of the latest clinical advances, we are searching for better treatments for these disorders.

Our mission is to provide exceptional, comprehensive, compassionate and individualized care for people living with sickle cell disease. Montefiore’s team of highly skilled physicians and specialists at the Sickle Cell Center for Adults offers a full range of medical and social services to meet our patients’ needs. As New York City’s largest and most comprehensive sickle cell program, our Center is at the forefront of clinical research, offering patients access to the latest clinical trials.

Social Service Assistance

Our outpatient social worker provides an array of services to patients in need of assistance, including access to insurance, transportation and psychosocial support.

Support Groups

Our support groups for adults with SCD connect you with a community of support where you can share your experiences and resources. Group members receive education and skills that make the burden of SCD a little less heavy.
