Dr. Shwetha Iyer received her medical degree from Temple University and completed her residency in the Primary Care/Social Internal Medicine Program at Montefiore. She continued on as faculty at the Comprehensive Health Care Center (CHCC) for one year after residency and then completed two years of training with Dr. Gerald Paccione as a global health faculty fellow, developing the Global Health and Clinical Skills Fellowship. During the fellowship, Dr. Iyer led journal clubs in Global Health and Medical Education and supervised residents while abroad at the Montefiore affiliated Kisoro District Hospital site.
Dr. Iyer's primary focus is on medical education and she is currently developing and co-teaching a clinical reasoning elective. She also modified and taught a weight management curriculum as her residency project. She is currently the Co-Program Director for the Primary Care/Social Internal Medicine Program.
