Shwetha V. Iyer, M.D.
Dr. Shwetha Iyer received her medical degree from Temple University and completed her residency in the Primary Care/Social Internal Medicine Program at Montefiore. She continued on as faculty at the Comprehensive Health Care Center (CHCC) for one year after residency and is now working with Dr. Gerald Paccione as a global health faculty fellow, developing the Global Health and Clinical Skills Fellowship. This entails spending three months each year in Uganda working at the Montefiore affiliated Kisoro District Hospital site attending to residents during their clinical global health month abroad, developing projects in Kisoro, which include TB and chronic disease follow-up in the community and while in the U.S., leading journal clubs and developing and teaching a curriculum on clinical reasoning skills.
This year Dr. Iyer has also taken on the role of Assistant Program Director to further her interest in program administration. Academic interests include medical education and obesity; she modified and taught a weight management curriculum as her residency project.
