Bronx-Westchester Area Health Education Centers (BW-AHEC) is six-week paid summer placement opportunity that targets Bronx and Westchester County junior/senior high school and freshman/ sophomore college students who have expressed an interest in the health fields. Students are exposed to a variety of careers in the health fields as well as to health issues affecting their communities.
Students are placed three days a week for eight hours a day, with mandatory didactic sessions once a week at Lehman College. These sessions encompass a full day and include lectures, field trips and other healthrelated activities. Students who successfully complete the Summer Health Internship Program will emerge with newfound connections, job-readiness skills and insight into the world of healthcare.

Be high school juniors or seniors or college freshmen or sophomores, as of fall
Have a strong interest in pursuing health/medical careers
Live or attend school in the Bronx or Westchester
Be available and committed to participate in the program in its entirety
Be U.S. citizens or have permanent resident status
