Postdoctoral Position: Laboratory of Dr. E. Richard Stanley
A POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP is available in Richard Stanley's laboratory at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York. The major focus of the laboratory is regulation by the colony stimulating factor-1 (CSF-1) receptor (CSF-1R) in development and disease. CSF-1 is the primary growth factor regulating tissue macrophage and osteoclast production. The Stanley laboratory has pioneered research on CSF-1, the CSF-1 receptor (CSF-1R), the novel CSF-1R ligand, interleukin-34 (IL-34) and the anti-inflammatory F-BAR protein, PSTPIP2, regulated by the CSF-1R. Studies involve the use of state-of-the-art proteomic, genetic, genomic and imaging approaches. Current research focuses on 1) CSF-1 and IL-34 in myeloid, neural and Paneth cell development using genetically engineered mice, 2) CSF-1 and IL-34 in the enhancement of tumor metastasis and inflammatory diseases, 3) CSF-1R signal transduction in macrophages using proteomic, genetic and genomic approaches and 4) the role of F-BAR proteins in myeloid development and disease. Recent PhD graduates are preferred. Qualified individuals must have strong laboratory expertise in molecular and cell biology, first author publications in peer-reviewed English language journals, and be prepared to work in a highly competitive environment. Ability to work independently, demonstrated creativity and very high motivation are expected.
