PUB 6500: Principles of Environmental Health Sciences (3 credits)

This course provides an introduction to understanding the role of the physical environment in shaping population and community health. The course examines the relationship of natural and human-made hazards that affect health, including air, water, solid wastes, and hazards produced in occupational settings. Epidemiological approaches for measuring the relationship between environmental hazards and health outcomes are also introduced. The role of regulation and policy in assuring the quality of the physical environment is discussed.
