Harold and Muriel Block
Institute for Clinical and Translational Research at Einstein and Montefiore

Founded on the partnership between Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center, the ICTR has helped cement that collaboration in clinical and translation research since 2007.

The ICTR is a member of the nationwide Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) consortium, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The CTSA is designed to break down barriers that inhibit cross-disciplinary, bidirectional research from the laboratory to the clinic and back again.

The mission of the Office of Clinical Trials (OCT) is to encourage and support investigators at Einstein and Montefiore Medical Center in their conduct of clinical research by providing resources, expertise, and best practices to facilitate efficient, compliant and ethical study conduct and management.

We strive to provide exceptional support to our physicians and to our community to foster better health outcomes for our patients and afford them access to state-of-the -art therapies and drugs.

We seek to attract novel, innovative and transformational therapeutics, diagnostics and devices to our medical center and its stakeholders, and serve as an easy partner providing industry sponsors access to our skilled investigators, our experienced study coordinators, and our patient community.

The OCT assists the Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine with managing all aspects of clinical trials of new pharmaceuticals and medical devices, including both industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated studies. We help prepare IRB submissions, build and negotiate budgets, manage contracting and engage in business development. We also serve to see that trials - once activated - get enrolled and successfully completed, and provide financial oversight to help administer the medical center's research billing compliance program.
