How do I find a map of the Einstein campus?
First, get in touch with Environmental Health and Safety to request laboratory refrigerator/freezer clearance. Then ask Engineering to remove the Freon gas by submitting an engineering work order. After the Freon gas is removed, complete a Housekeeping work order to request equipment disposal.

How do I find a list of Einstein buildings and departments?
The listing of buildings, including locations within each campus building, where you may find specific rooms or offices that you may be attempting to find can be accessed here.

How do I obtain a work order form, and where should it be sent?
The engineering work order form can be completed online and then printed, copied and sent to the engineering office in the Forchheimer Building, room B-60 or faxed to 718.430.8940. Departments can also submit requests for Web access to our work order system, MicroMain, by e-mailing anne.johnson@einstein.yu.edu. This allows you to request work electronically and lets you follow the status of the request.

Who should sign a work order?
A work order should be signed by a principal investigator or administrator with authority to approve use of your funding.

How long will it take for requested work to be performed?
Routine work orders will be completed in less than two weeks unless parts must be ordered. Construction projects are scheduled over the course of the fiscal year based on their scope of work and priorities set by the Dean’s office. Newer requests will be scheduled upon receipt of approval and evaluation of priorities by the dean’s office.

When is funding necessary for an engineering project?
All work orders should include a funding source. Occasionally a request will involve work that is considered “maintenance”; in such cases the funding source will not be charged.

How do I investigate the status of my work order?
If you have submitted your work order via MicroMain web connect, you may check its status electronically.  If not, call Ext. 2808

How are charges applied to my authorized account?
Engineering will send the finance department an intercharge bill reflecting actual material and labor costs to be deducted from your designated account. This will appear on your general ledger. You will also receive a confirming copy of the initial bill from engineering.

How do I request or update a sign?
For building directories or room signs in corridors, you may use either an Engineering work order form (along with a data fabrication of sign form) or the Web-based MicroMain work order system. Call George Lin at 718.420. 8967 to find out which sign system applies to your location. For all requests, please specify room number or directory location; the old information to be removed or updated; and the new information, using a format to match existing signs in the area.

Purchase it directly through the procurement department and submit an Engineering work order form requesting installation.

How do I get copies of floor plans or renovation drawings?
Square-footage drawings of departmental space are available from the Assistant Director of Facilities Planning; e-mail cecilia.haas@einstein.yu.edu.

How do I request computer cabling?
Submit your request to ITS , who coordinate these projects and have technical expertise in specifying exactly what is needed. They will in turn submit a request to engineering on your behalf.

How do I get new batteries?
Batteries are considered a “consumable” item, and they are not provided by the Engineering department. Direct purchase can be arranged through the Procurement department at 718.430.3001.

How do I arrange for the assembly of new furniture?
To the extent possible, all furniture purchased directly by a department via the procurement department should include onsite assembly and removal of packing materials by the vendor. If not, submit an Engineering work order, for consideration.
