On occasion a department or principal investigator may wish to have the Department of Environmental Health and Safety clear a laboratory or piece of equipment. The cleared lab may need to be renovated by Engineering or cleaned by Housekeeping, while cleared equipment may need to be repaired or discarded as waste.
EH&S has established a check list for the department or principal investigator to use in preparing a laboratory or piece of equipment to be "Cleared by Safety". By using these forms you can expedite the process allowing Safety to clear the equipment the first time. The check lists are PDF documents that will require Acrobat Reader:
Once you have performed all activities on the check list, you should email the Laboratory Safety Officer to schedule clearance of a laboratory or equipment.
