Before his appointment as associate dean for communications and public affairs at Einstein in November, 2007, Mr. Earle worked for a number of prestigious universities. From 2002 to 2005, he served as both executive director and vice president for communications and public affairs at Stanford. The year before joining Einstein, he was a senior consultant to Duke University, working closely with President Richard Brodhead and other senior administrators.
Prior to his entry into academia, Mr. Earle served for more than 25 years as a journalist and communications and public affairs consultant. Beginning in the 1980s, he worked as both a reporter and senior producer with the NewsHour on PBS, ending his tenure after being appointed as a John S. Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University.
During the 1990s, he worked as a senior vice president with Hill & Knowlton and as an executive vice president with GCI group, a subsidiary of Grey Advertising. He later formed his own communications firm, Earle Partners, a New York-based consultancy that utilized the talents of a unique team of senior professionals – including P.h.Ds, lawyers, M.B.A.s and medical doctors — to help organizations identify and solve their marketing and communications challenges.
Mr. Earle received his bachelors degree, cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Williams College and a master’s degree in international politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
