Woman's Blood Disorder Clinic

Blood disorders in young girls and young women can have serious medical consequences but if treated by professionals who are trained to treat these problems, better outcomes can be expected. Women may also want to assess the potential effect these diagnoses have on their ability to use contraception, get pregnant and have healthy babies. Whether it be a severe anemia, sickle cell disease, a clotting or bleeding disorder or a platelet abnormality, women may require tailored therapy in order to treat their illness throughout their reproductive lives.

In order to serve this growing population, the Hematology Division and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Montefiore are very pleased to offer a clinic designed specifically for women with blood disorders. Each patient will be seen in consultation by board certified Hematologists and a specialist in Women’s Health and Obstetrics and Gynecology who will discuss with the individual what their recommendations are for their diagnosis and their particular stage in life. We will follow our patients to ensure that they get optimal care throughout their reproductive stages.
