The New York Times features research by Gil Atzmon, Ph.D., and Edward Burns, M.D., which found genetic links among Jewish people. The study, in conjunction with NYU, was published in the American Journal of Human Genetic. It provides the first detailed genetic maps of the three major Jewish subpopulations Ashkenazi, Sephardic and Mizrahi formed by the Diasporas (the scattering of Jews throughout Europe and the Middle East). These genetic links could provide the origins to many common diseases, including cancer and diabetes.
