M.D. Program

Laptop Requirements

Einstein requires all students to have a laptop computer, PC, Mac or Tablet, with minimum capacity as delineated below. A Netbook, an Apple iPad, and Android devices do not meet these minimum requirements.

Most laptops sold within the last 2 to 3 years are adequate for your medical education needs. We encourage you to evaluate the different Tablet models since it may facilitate your ability to take notes during lectures.

The basic macbook pro should work well and students are supposed to receive a 10% discount off the list price from Apple local and online stores. laptopYou'll need to provide your student ID information in order to receive the discount.

Einstein also has a contract with CDW-G on Lenovo machines and the Lenovo T420 or T520 may be a good fit for you. The person you need to speak with is Jonathan Williams, the Sr. Account Manager at CDW-G. His contact information is jonathan.williams@cdwg.com or 866-743-5681.

While we list here some very specific requirements, we are not providing numbers for memory. All computers that meet the other requirements will have sufficient memory to move easily from task to task. However, if you can afford – or want - to spend a little more on the computer, then double the RAM and storage that comes standard. For example, if 2GB of RAM is included, you should consider adding 2GB of RAM. This should allow you to keep one computer for a longer period before you need to get a more powerful machine.
