The Facilities Department oversees the Engineering Department to meet the goals of the Dean’s Office with regard to strategic planning, space management, budgeting, and capital improvements, all aimed toward providing an environment conducive to teaching and research.
The Facilities Management Department is headed by Salvatore P. Ciampo. The department acts as liaison to various Offices of the Dean with regard to strategic planning, space management, budgeting, and project prioritization. In addition, the Facilities Management Department oversees the Engineering department which provides services for the Einstein Community. We are located in the basement of the Golding Building, accessible through the Engineering Offices. Mail should be directed to Facilities Management, Room B-60 Forchheimer.
The Engineering Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the physical plant, its mechanical systems, and for the renovation or alteration of existing facilities. The staff includes professional engineers, licensed operating engineers, operating mechanics, registered architect, masters level administrative personnel, planning, and craft specialists.
Specific crafts available within the Engineering staff are: carpentry, drafting, electrical (including fine instrumentation), machine-shop, painting, plumbing, refrigeration, sheet metal, stationary and watch engineers. Services are provided under three subsections of the department.
